What to Include When Requesting a Tattoo Quote

1. Design Idea Describe what you want in detail. Example: “A black and grey rose with a compass in the background and the word ‘Resilience’ in script underneath.” If possible, attach reference photos (style, vibe, fonts, or elements you like). Mention if it’s a flash piece from your artist’s existing work.

2. Placement Tell the artist where on your body the tattoo will go (e.g., inner forearm, upper thigh, etc.). Include if the area already has existing tattoos or scars the artist should be aware of.

3. Size Give estimated dimensions in inches or centimeters. Example: “Roughly 5 inches tall by 3 inches wide.” “Small” or “medium” means different things to different people — be specific.

4. Style What tattoo style are you thinking? Examples: fine line, traditional, realism, neo-traditional, blackwork, watercolor, etc. If you’re open to interpretation, say that — some artists love creative freedom.

5. Color or Black & Grey Mention whether you want full color, black and grey, or a mix.

6. Budget (Optional but Helpful) Giving a rough idea of your budget helps the artist propose something that works within your range (especially for custom work). Example: “I’m hoping to stay under $300.”

7. Availability Include your preferred days/times or upcoming availability. Mention if you’re flexible or only available on weekends, evenings, etc.

8. Contact Info Your name, email, phone number, or preferred way to be contacted.

9. Any Other Notes Are you traveling from out of town? Is this tattoo part of a larger piece you’re planning? Are you a first-timer and have questions?
